What do I need to start my answering service?

You should have at least two phone lines, one for your personal use and one to use for the answering service. Pens and notepads to so that you have something to take down the message and give to your clients. You can also use a computer to take down the messages and then print out a sheet of paper with the message and contact information. Some clients may also be interested in receiving these my email.

You can use 800 numbers to make it easier to remember. The cost of your supplies and second phone line can be added to the cost you charge your clients.

This could be a great business for you if you have small children and would like to stay home with them. Most of your business will be after office hours and night time hours.
